Welcome to the 1920s and 1930s History page

Louie Spencer

The Pantomime was prepared and performed by members of  the Bramley St. Peter's Church Sunday. Performances took place during January on the stage of Bramley National School in Hough Lane. This was destroyed in a fire in the 1950s and has been replaced by houses. When a stage had been built in the Church Institute, productions moved there. This building used to be situated in Waterloo Lane on the site of the present Community Centre. It was also burnt down in a fire in the 1950s.

This is a picture of Louie Dickinson (née Spencer) from whom we have received these early photographs. We would like to express our sincere thanks to her family for passing them on to us following Louie's death in 2006.
She is seen here in a 1930 production of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.
